South Madison - Women from the Pendleton and surrounding area gathered for the Open Hearts, Open Purses banquet Thursday, June 13 and awarded their fourth annual $10,000 grant to a worthy cause.

A philanthropic initiative through the South Madison Community Foundation, OHOP collects $100 from at least 100 women and then awards the money as a grant. At this year’s banquet, conducted at Blu Falls in Pendleton, OHOP awarded the grant to the Lapel-Stony Creek Fire Department to purchase an important piece of life-saving equipment.

“It was another successful evening of OHOP,” said Tammy Bowman,  SMCF donor and community development officer. “The women chose the Lapel-Stony Creek Fire Department so they could purchase a thermal imagery camera.”
