One, then two more, arrested for murder

Lapel - One person is dead after an early morning shooting just outside of Lapel Tuesday, Jan. 29.

But the man who admitted in a 911 call to shooting the man is not the only person arrested on murder charges.

The Madison County Sheriff’s Department arrested two of the caller’s cousins Thursday afternoon — and the investigation continues.

Sheriff Ron Richardson said officers responded to the scene Jan. 29 a little after 3 a.m.

“The Madison County Sheriff’s Department officers responded to a call that a subject had been shot at a residence,” Richardson said.

The victim has been identified as Spencer Smith, 22, of Lapel.
