Pendleton - Pendleton Heights basketball coach Brian Hahn has stressed throughout the season that the Arabians had to get better. He saw some improvement over the weekend with a tight loss against New Palestine Friday and a 53-29 win versus visiting Shelbyville Saturday.
In the latter contest, the Arabians came out blasting from the outside as Sean McDermott’s nine first quarter points came from the outside. In fact, 24 of the Arabians 28 first-half points were three-pointers that included shots from Brogan Gary, Levi Buck and Nick Moore.
After one quarter, Pendleton was up 16-2, and at the half, the lead was 28-9. However, the Arabians hit a third quarter lull in the offense, something Hahn has been concerned about this season.
“What we didn’t do last night (against New Palestine) was we didn’t play aggressively and assertively on the offensive end. I thought tonight we really came out assertive. We had a stretch in the third quarter where we didn’t, but we got that back and regained that, and that’s when we punched the lead up to 30.”
