Pendleton - The Pendleton Heights girls basketball team won twice in the consolation bracket of the Madison County Tournament and earned fifth place.
On Monday, Jan. 13, the Arabians pounded Liberty Christian 73-23, as they led 28-2 after the first quarter and 48-10 at halftime.
The Arabians doubled Frankton’s output Tuesday, Jan. 14, and won 60-30.
PH held the Eagles to single digits in each of the first three quarters and led 32-13 at the half and 50-16 through three quarters.
Lady Arabians fall hard to Anderson
Pendleton Heights went into its Madison County Tournament first-round game at Anderson Friday, Jan. 10, not in the best shape, physically and mentally.
It showed on the scoreboard, as the Indians handed the Arabians a 71-40 defeat and ended their four-game winning streak.
PH dropped to 9-4 and sustained its biggest margin of defeat since the 2009 Arabians fell to South Bend Washington by 32 in the semistate.
“We played scared,” PH coach Holly Hollinger-Gutierrez said. “We prepared all week and we thought we were ready, but we just didn’t show up.”
