The Lapel High School boys and girls cross country teams finished 10th at the Pendleton Heights cross country Arabian Roundup Wednesday, Aug. 28.
The boys finished 10th of 23 teams with 281 points.
Freshman Logan Bradley ran 20th with a time of 18:19 for 5,000 meters. Junior Noah Hendershot was 26th, freshman Jon Ross Richardson 55th and junior Danny George 73rd.
Lapel was scheduled to compete in a dual meet at Shenandoah Tuesday, Sept. 3, and at the Landes Invitational at Hamilton Heights Thursday, Sept. 5.
The girls finished 10th of 19 teams with 262 points.
Junior Sierra Ratzlaff paced the Bulldogs by finishing 32nd in 23:39 for 5,000 meters. Sophomore Micah Bryan was 33rd, with classmates Lilly Ratzlaff and Plensah-Tay Sakeuh 44th 52nd, respectively.
The Bulldogs were to run in a dual meet at Shenandoah Tuesday, Sept. 3, and at the Landes Invitational at Hamilton Heights Thursday, Sept. 5.
The Lapel High School girls golf team captured a four-way meet Wednesday, Aug. 28, defeating second-place Southport by 26 strokes as well as Park Tudor and Beech Grove.
Sophomore Natalia Campbell was medalist with 35, as Lapel totaled 180.
Lapel was to play at Alexandria with Tipton Wednesday, Sept. 4, and is at the Lafayette Jeff invitational Saturday, Sept. 7.
Lapel High School boys tennis fell to Frankton 4-1 Wednesday, Aug. 28 in the first round of the Madison County Tournament, and had a three-match win streak snapped.
Garrett Fensler at No. 1 singles won 6-1, 6-1 for the Bulldogs, and improved to 4-0.
On Tuesday, Aug. 27, Lapel swept Elwood 5-0 and all the Bulldogs won their matches in straight sets. Winners were Fensler (1 singles), Daniel Conrad (2 singles), Chase Kimmerling (3 singles), Daulton Fensler and Samuel Parkison (1 doubles), and Ridge Abraham and Caleb Danes (2 doubles).
Lapel was to face Eastern Hancock Wednesday, Sept. 4.
Lapel High School volleyball divided a pair of matches last week, and the Bulldogs are 3-4 on the season.
The Bulldogs fell to Mt. Vernon at home Tuesday, Aug. 27, 25-18, 25-20, 25-15. Rachel Thalls led Lapel with seven kills.
On Thursday, Aug. 29, the Bulldogs beat Tri 25-20, 25-22, 25-15. Thalls had 12 kills (she has 59 for the year) and three aces, Mary Jewel Stohler added seven kills and Bailee Scribner came up with 24 digs.
The Bulldogs were at home to play Pendleton Heights Tuesday, Sept. 3, at Cardinal Ritter Wednesday, Sept. 4, and at Tri-Central Thursday, Sept. 5.
