Pendleton - Entering the Madison County Wrestling Championships Saturday, Dec. 15, the defending champion Arabians resembled a rehab facility more than a wrestling team.
During the season, the Arabians have wrestled multiple matches without the services of different varsity wrestlers because of illness or injuries, with several matches seeing four wrestlers out of the line-up.
While all of the injured wrestlers will soon return, the Arabians were forced to open defense of their 2011 title with three wrestlers out and others nursing injuries. In spite of this, the Arabians sprinted to an 81-point victory against runner-up Frankton with nine finalists and seven individual title winners. Depth was the day’s theme as the Arabians finished fourth or higher in each weight class.
