Pendleton - The Pendleton Police Department will have a new building to call home starting January 2015 — and it’s the former PPD location at 550 N. Pendleton Ave.
“We’ll start renovations as soon as we have the keys,” Pendleton Police Chief Marc Farrer said. “Everyone is very excited to get back up on the hill.”
The move is possible now that Pendleton is phasing out its town court, which is housed in the location.
Farrer said he was excited to be moving the PPD back to the Pendleton Avenue site because the current offices on State Street are too small.
In the past year, Farrer has said the current station — which was not supposed to be a permanent place for the department — has caused headaches for officers because of flooding and a lack of space. He said adequate parking for squad cars has become more of an issue the past few months.
Pendleton Town Council agreed to the police department move at its regularly scheduled meeting Thursday, April 4.
