Pendleton - After recently announcing its intention to take out a $2 million bond, the Falls Park Board of Directors is hoping five major projects will help enhance the system for residents of all ages.

Park board President Jack Wilson said the projects accomplished with funds from the bond, which should be completed over the next few years, should create a more interactive environment for residents.

“I think they’ll provide a much improved user experience for people who attend park activities,” Wilson said. “We (the board) have really tried to focus on providing enhanced park facilities for all age groups.”

The park board is eyeing projects that include paving of the sports complex, a new maintenance barn/office building, a splash park at the pool, installation of a half-mile fitness trail and a new bathroom facility.

“Interest rates are so low right now,” Wilson said. “We believe we’ll get a good rate, which will allow us to do some projects we couldn’t finish without it.”
