Pendleton - Pendleton Heights placed fourth in the Hamilton Southeastern sectional Saturday, Feb. 22, with 257.5 points.
Sophomore Dylan McCammon was second in diving with 495.75 points and advanced to the Fishers diving regional, which was Tuesday, Feb. 25 (after press time).
“He’s diving better than he did at this point last year (13th in the state meet),” Arabians coach Jeff Maydak said. “We think he can be at the podium at state, which would be top eight.”
Sophomore Aric Fredericks twice set school records in the 100 butterfly at the sectional. He swam 54.14 seconds in the qualifying round Thursday, Feb. 20, breaking Andrew Ballentine’s mark from 2004. Fredericks did 53.38 in the final, placing fourth. He also was seventh in the 200 free (1:48.56).
“Any time you can drop your time and break the school record, that’s a great achievement,” Maydak said. “He may have been disappointed where he ended up place-wise, but I’m very proud of him.”
