Pendleton - Throughout the Madison County softball tournament, runs were very hard to come by for Pendleton Heights, as opponents sent out their best pitchers against the Arabians.

Class 4A-sixth-ranked PH again made it to the final game, but twice had to eke out wins in their final at-bat to get there. It was no different Saturday, April 19 at Legends Field, where the Arabians met an equally-determined Elwood side for the trophy.

But once the Arabians (7-2) got their break, they didn’t stop. PH broke a scoreless tie with five runs in the sixth inning, and defeated the Panthers 5-1 for their third straight county title.

“We faced the best pitching in Madison County, without a doubt, and it’s going to take the third time around for (batters) to figure it out,” PH coach Rob Davis said. “I told the girls, ‘let’s go in there and battle,’ and we did that.”
