Ingalls - A West Virginia man on his way to a business meeting in Fishers was forced to crash his small plane near Ingalls Wednesday, May 1, making an emergency landing in a cornfield just outside of town.

The pilot — who turned 46 the day of the incident — was identified as Vincent Miele, of Clarksburg, W. Va. Bell said Mielwas flying to the plane solo.

Major Brian Bell with the Madison County Sheriff Department, who was on site with other officers, said a 911 call was received from a cell phone at 8:36 a.m.

“Luckily no was hurt,” Bell said.
