Lapel - As the impending move by the City of Anderson to annex almost 17 square miles of land southwest of the city and four square miles to the northeast looms over Lapel, the Lapel Town Council moved forward with its own land annexation.
The annexation that includes 10 property owners is fully voluntary with 100 percent local participation, according to Councilman Clay Parkison. It includes property that connects to very southeastern edge of Lapel via Pendleton Avenue and CR 400S.
“This is considered a super-annexation, because it has 100 percent participation,” Parkison said.
