SMCSC bus reports another antifreeze leak

Pendleton - A South Madison Community School Corp. bus reported an antifreeze leak on Thursday, weeks after a similar mechanical failure on a bus carrying Maple Ridge Elementary students sent a little girl to the hospital with burns.

SMCSC President Chris Boots confirmed that a bus carrying Pendleton Heights Middle School students on a band field trip was emptied after anti-freeze was spotted on the floor.

“Yes, there was another leak,” Boots said. “But it wasn’t nearly as dramatic as the last one.”

He said while the leak was not serious, the school sent a replacement bus to collect the students, all of whom continued onto their planned field trip in Indianapolis.
