Pendleton - Citing a gradual decline in the number of students at Maple Ridge Elementary School, the South Madison Community School Corp. is looking at possibly redistricting.

While only discussed at the last regularly scheduled board meeting Feb. 7, the board will take a closer look Feb. 21 at four separate options that could affect about 150 students.

According to officials, the board will not vote on the redistricting options until March 7.

“Since redistricting in 2009, the enrollment at Maple Ridge Elementary has continued to drop,” Superintendent Joe Buck said.

MRE enrollment numbers have fallen from 880 students in the 2008-09 school year, 642 students in 2009-10 and 609 students in 2012-13.
