Lapel - Plenseh-tay Sakeuh has set the standard for future Lapel track athletes to follow.

Including herself.

Sakeuh put the Bulldogs on the scoreboard at the IHSAA girls state meet Friday, June 6, in both hurdles events. The junior placed fourth in the 300-meter event and eighth against another strong field in the finals of the 100 hurdles.

That scored eight points for Lapel in the team standings, and the Bulldogs tied for 30th place.

Sakeuh’s finish in the 300 was the highest ever by any Lapel athlete, male or female, in a state track meet. E.J. Cripe ran fifth in the boys 100 in 2006. Also, Sakeuh is believed to be the first Lapel girl to score at state, and with it earn All-State honors.
