Pendleton - It was a busy night for the Pendleton Town Council as the group gathered for its first regularly scheduled meeting of 2013 Thursday, Jan. 3.

Before the board could hear any actionable items, the meeting was turned over to Town Attorney Alex Intermill for the election of officers, but before the voting took place, two board members had important announcements to make.

Before discussing the acquisition of a crime scene vehicle for the police department, longtime Town Council President Don Henderson announced his tenure would come to an end in 2013.

“This will be my last year on the council,” Henderson said. “I am going to be retiring, if the good Lord is willing, by the end of this year.”
