Lapel - A season that because of weather started slowly for Lapel’s boys track has accelerated as the temperatures have gone up — and the meets have become more important.
And for six Bulldog athletes, the season has been extended and will come to a climax in this week’s regional.
Lapel accumulated 49 points in the Mt. Vernon sectional Thursday, May 16, good for fifth in the team standings. The Bulldogs will field entries in five individual events and two relays at the Ben Davis regional Thursday, May 23.
“We did real well and I’m very happy,” Lapel coach Chris Blessing said. “We finished right where we usually do, right behind the top four schools (Anderson, Mt. Vernon, New Castle and Pendleton Heights).”
