Pendleton - The New Castle Trojans brought the Pendleton Heights girls volleyball season to an end Oct. 26 in second-round sectional play 3-0 at the New Castle Fieldhouse.

The fourth-ranked Trojans and eventual sectional champion came into the match having lost just two matches in the regular season. In Set 1 of the match, the Arabians kept pace with New Castle, taking a 17-14 lead at one point. When the Trojans tied the game at 18, they got the go-ahead point and maintained the lead until a 25-21 set win.

“The girls made all of the adjustments we asked them to over the past week,” coach Stephanie Ammirata said. “They had some really great shots, defensively were blocking and were doing a perfect job in the first set.”

In Set 2, New Castle jumped out to a 7-1 lead until the Arabians pulled within four at 11-7, but the Trojans dropped shot after shot into the Pendleton side with no returns from the Arabians. The Trojans went on to win 25-13.
