South Madison - The Pendleton YMCA recently announced the expansion of its summer camp program and has partnered with Falls Park to help bring the kid-friendly options to fruition.
YMCA Director Casey Rowlett said camps were offered last summer, but this year a community partnership was helping to grow the program and bring more activities to area children.
“This is a true partnership with the park,” Rowlett said. “We are going to be using the Conservation Building, the Community Building and YMCA facilities to help bring these camps to Pendleton.”
Rowlett said she and other YMCA officials traveled around the state in preparation to expand camp offerings.
“We wanted to offer a real camp experience,” Rowlett said. “So we visited several camps across the state to see how their programs were being run.”
Camp sessions began June 2 and run through Aug. 1.
Full-day camps — which include many components, such as Camping 101, Forever Fit, Growing Up, Try Something New, Mad Scientists, Around the World in Five Days, Y Olympics, Under the Sea and Talent Show — are scheduled from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
