The Pendleton Swim Club has had a very active short-course season, attending a regional meet every three to four weeks since November.

The club has experienced a 50 percent increase in participating swimmers, has doubled the coaching staff from four to eight and now has six certified USA Swimming Officials.

This growth is evidenced by excellent performance in the pool. At this time, PSC has 31 swimmers who have qualified to swim at the divisional championship meet, six at the state championship meet and six at the Speedo sectional meet.

Since the club has more members, volunteers and officials, it again will host a regional swim meet at Brown Pool on June 24.

In the meantime, the club swimmers will continue seeking divisional and state time cuts at upcoming regional meets this month. Many club swimmers competed for the Pendleton Heights High School swim team, which just placed third at sectional and advanced one swimmer to the state meet.

Many PSC swimmers also will compete on the Pendleton Heights Middle School Swim team, which swims in several meets also in February, culminating in the Hoosier Heritage Conference meet on Feb. 25.

While the club will conduct tryouts for the long-course competition team at the Pendleton Heights pool from 6 to 7:30 p.m. April 17-18, swimmers can join at any time by inquiring through the website. Additionally, swim lessons will begin again on May 1, with registration information on the website.

Pendleton Swim Club is a growing organization for competitive youth swimmers ages 5 to -18, competing at local and regional meets throughout the year; it promotes hard work, dedication and sportsmanship to achieve goals beyond the pool.
