Student art on exhibit

PENDLETON — Pendleton Artists Society is featuring art by students during February at Gallery 119. The display opened Friday, Feb. 3, with a reception.

Gallery 119 is located at 119 W. State St., Pendleton.

Lapel students sponsor dinner

LAPEL — Lapel High School Students to Europe 2017 plan a chicken and noodle dinner from 5 to 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, in the school commons area.

The adult ticket price is $7, and the student ticket price is $3. This price includes chicken and noodles, mashed potatoes, green beans, a roll and a drink. Desserts also will be available to purchase for $1.50. This meal will take place on Senior Night before the Speedway boys basketball game.

People may purchase your tickets in advance from participating high school juniors or at the door. Proceeds from the fundraiser will help pay for a student trip to Europe in fall 2017.

If the basketball game is postponed, the meal will take place on the reschedule day.

Library shares code with youth

ANDERSON — Anderson Public Library’s children’s department plans “Maze, Sequence 4 Hour of Code” — a way to learn computer coding languages — from 5 to 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 20.

Hour of Code is a national effort by Computer Science Education Week and Code.org to introduce students to one hour of computer science and programming.

Children ages 8-12 are invited.

The library is located at 111 E. 12th St., Anderson.

Outfitters gala coming up

PENDLETON — Outfitters Inc.’s 10th annual benefit gala, “A Midwinter Night’s Dream Presents Saturday Night Fever,” is planned from 5 p.m. to midnight Saturday, Feb. 25, at Hoosier Park Casino.

Tickets cost $65 each.

Outfitters is a non-profit organization that helps provide clothing for children in need; it is located at 880 S. Pendleton Ave., Pendleton.

Town plans business event

PENDLETON — The Pendleton Town Council is organizing a local business owner reception at Pendleton Town Hall from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 2.

Council members and town staff will be available to discuss business owners’ needs and wants.

Hors d’oeuvres and refreshments will be available.

Jewelry class offered in town

PENDLETON — Tracy Davidson and Stu Edwards plan a jewelry class from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 26, at the Pendleton Artists Society’s Gallery 119.

Tracy Davidson works with various metals, creating both large works of art to making fine jewelry.

This class will be designing and creating earrings or pendants out of copper and sterling silver.

The process will teach participants to texture, solder, file and form metals into pleasing shapes for jewelry.

All supplies and tools needed for the class will be provided.

The cost is $40 for ages 14 and up.

Library to play host to lawyer

PENDLETON — A new session of “Lawyer in the Library” is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 8, at the Pendleton Community Public Library, 595 E. Water St.

The no-chrage and confidential legal help will be offered through Indiana Legal Services Inc. to those who meet eligibility guidelines.

ILS provides advice and representation to individual clients in non-criminal cases.

ILS does not have resources to represent every applicant. Therefore, ILS often gives advice to clients to help them resolve problems on their own.

Eligibility requirements include those whose household income is below 125 percent of the federal poverty level guidelines or anyone 60 or older, regardless of income. Specific income amounts based on household size are available at the library.

Twenty-minute time slots are available for reservation. Those interested in reserving a spot should stop at the circulation desk or call the library at 765-778-7527.

Ballet classes set for YMCA

PENDLETON — The YMCA of Madison County Pendleton Branch plans to offer ballet lessons at its Falls Park location.

Beginner Ballet and Ballet II for boys and girls 3 and older will be offered Tuesdays through April 11.

The beginner class will start at 4 p.m., and Ballet II will begin at 5 p.m. Each class lasts 45 minutes.

The course fee is $100 for YMCA members and $135 for non-members.

Choir sells mulch

PENDLETON — The Pendleton Heights High School Choir is selling bags of mulch, both dark brown and black, for $5 per bag. The sale ends March 10 and the bags will be available for pick up on Saturday April 1. Please e-mail [email protected] to place your order.
