LAPEL — For the second time in three years, the Lapel Bulldogs will be playing in the Nick Muller Madison County Championship game.

Junior Levi Frazier shook off early control problems to throw four strong innings, and junior Cameron Holycross helped pace a 10-hit Bulldog attack, as Lapel routed Madison-Grant 11-1 in a game shortened to five innings by run rule.

Lapel (3-1) will face defending champion Pendleton Heights (6-1) in the championship game at 7 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Field in Anderson. Lapel won its first county title in 2015.

Frazier had trouble finding the strike zone in the first inning. He walked four batters to force in a run to give the Argylls a 1-0 lead.

That lead was short-lived as the Bulldogs answered with single runs in the first, second and third innings before breaking the game open with five in the fourth inning and three more in the fifth to end the game.

Frazier, meanwhile, finished strong. He did not walk a batter after the first inning, giving up just three hits and fanning seven before yielding to senior Jaren Cravens to pitch the fifth.

Holycross was one of four Bulldogs to collect two hits on the night. He doubled and drove in three runs, while Frazier added a double and an RBI. Senior John Sherwood and sophomore Caden Shirley each had two hits, an RBI and two runs scored.
