PENDLETON — Senior Sam Hammel remains unbeaten on the season as Pendleton Heights evened its record with a convincing 5-0 win against Shenandoah today.
Hammel raised her record to 6-0 as the No. 1 singles player for the Arabians with a 6-1, 6-3 win versus Alex Conaday. Sophomore Gracie Criswell won her match against Josie Conaday by an identical 6-1, 6-3 score, while junior Bailey Davis completed the Arabian sweep of the singles matches with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Letha Wilson in the No. 2 match.
In doubles play, senior Gabby Kramer and junior Susie Kramer had a battle on their hands in the No. 1 match, but prevailed against Morgan and Madison House 7-6 (7-5), 7-6 (7-2). Brielle Boynton and Claire Goodwin rolled over Abby Carter and Carly Allen in the second match 6-0, 6-3.
The Arabians (3-3) head to Shelbyville for a Hoosier Heritage Conference showdown Friday, April 21, before visiting Hamilton Heights Saturday, April 22.
On Tuesday, Pendleton Heights squared its Hoosier Heritage Conference record at 1-1 with a 5-0 win against New Castle.
Senior Sam Hammel and sophomore Gracie Criswell dominated their foes on their way to convincing wins. Hammel routed Delaney Dye 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 1 singles match, and Criswell cruised past Elizabeth Lamar in the No. 3 singles match by a 6-1, 6-1 score.
Junior Bailey Davis completed the singles sweep with a 6-4, 6-1 win versus Oriana Ogle in the No. 2 slot.
In doubles play, senior Gabby Kramer and junior Susie Kramer knocked off Alexis Hardwick and Kaylea Dewitt 7-5, 6-1 in the No. 1 match, and senior Brielle Boynton and junior Claire Goodwin pulled out a 7-5, 6-2 win against Harley Jackson and Hannah McCubbins in the No. 2 match.
