Lapel baseball falls to Frankton

LAPEL — Junior Evan Doan doubled twice and drove in three runs as Frankton rallied for eight runs against the Lapel bullpen to hand the Bulldogs a 12-7 loss Friday.

Lapel starting pitcher Cameron Holycross allowed two earned runs in his four innings of work, but relievers Jaren Cravens and Dan Magers had trouble getting Eagle batters out. The two struggled with command, hitting three batters and walking three while surrendering six hits as Frankton broke open a 4-3 game with three runs in the sixth and five more in the seventh.

Lapel (4-3) scored twice in the sixth and twice in the seventh, but it was not nearly enough to catch Frankton (7-1).

Seniors John Sherwood and Dustin Dowden each had two hits, including a double for Lapel, with Sherwood driving in two runs and Dowden one. Mason Gilley, Levi Frazier and Caden Shirley each had two hits for the Bulldogs, who outhit the Eagles 12-9. Satchell Wilson scored twice for Lapel.

Holycross allowed three hits and two walks in the start for the Bulldogs, who will host Daleville at 5:30 p.m. Monday.
