Lapel softball down Wes-Del 10-1

LAPEL — The Bulldogs got another complete game pitching effort from senior Brooke Daniels, and seven different players drove in runs Friday, as Lapel won its seventh in their last nine games with a 10-1 victory against Wes-Del.

Daniels improved to 3-2 on the season with her fourth complete game of the year. She allowed just one earned run on five hits and a walk while striking out five. Daniels now boasts a 1.88 earned-run average and has allowed just 35 hits in 41 innings pitched this season with 28 strikeouts to pace the Lapel pitching staff.

Daniels was also a contributor at the plate Friday night, with two runs batted in and was on base three times with a single and two walks. Sophomore Chloe Bousman also drove in a pair, and five other players drove in one run each, as Lapel got production from all spots in the batting order.

Junior Jasmine Hazelbaker collected three hits, including a double, and sophomore Addie Bailey added a pair of singles as Lapel pounded a dozen hits for the game. Juniors Sophie Cline and Chelbie Hollen scored two runs apiece for Lapel (7-4).

The Bulldogs will hit the road for a 5:30 p.m. first pitch at Mt. Vernon Tuesday.
