LAPEL — A two-run hit by senior John Sherwood was all the offense his classmate Dustin Dowden would need Wednesday.

Dowden tossed a complete game five-hitter and struck out nine as Lapel upended Shenandoah 4-1.

Sherwood’s two-run single in the second inning got the scoring underway for Lapel (6-5). Junior Mason Gilley added an RBI single later for insurance.

Dowden carried a shutout into the seventh, during which senior Dalton Hatcher scored the lone Raider run. Dowden walked two in picking up the complete game win.

Gilly, Sherwood and senior Dylan Dowden each collected two hits for the Bulldogs, who are scheduled to host Tri today and Western Friday.
