STRAUGHN — The season-long Lapel tennis roadshow continues this week, while the Bulldogs hope for dry weather as the resurfacing of their home courts continues.

Juniors Maddie Shannon and Lauren Benagh combined to drop just six games in two days at the top of the Lapel roster as the Bulldogs split matches at Warren Central and Tri early this week.

Wednesday at Tri Junior-Senior High School, Shannon defeated Gabby O’Neal 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, while Benagh blanked Alyssa Bennett in the No. 2 match 6-0, 6-0 to pace Lapel to a 4-1 win.

Senior Hannah Chinn lost in the No. 3 match 1-6, 1-6 to Molly West.

Lapel dominated both doubles matches with senior Emma Bush and junior Tonya Riffey rolling past Lindsey Peavie and Alyssa Nuzzi, 6-1, 6-2 in the No. 1 match; juniors Makena Mason and Alyssa Whaley routed Allison Kingsley and Jessi Vandiver 6-1, 6-1.

On Tuesday, the Bulldogs fell to Warren Central 3-2 with Shannon and Benagh scoring the two Bulldog points.

Shannon knocked off Delila Villatoro 6-1, 6-3, and Benagh cruised by Ashley Jarrells 6-0, 6-1, but Lapel was unable to collect another win. Junior Mackenzie Richards lost in three sets at the No. 3 singles, and Bush and Whaley did likewise in the No. 1 doubles. Sophomore Emily Eppert and freshman Zoe Freer lost in straight sets at No. 2 doubles.

The Lapel Invitational scheduled for 9 a.m. Saturday has been moved to Noblesville because the Lapel High School court work.
