LAPEL — The Lapel High School softball team has had no problems scoring runs this week. The issue has been preventing the opposition from scoring.

Anderson scored eight runs in the fourth inning and added three more in the seventh Wednesday and held off the Bulldogs 12-11.

On Monday, Lapel beat Wapahani by the same razor-thin 12-11 score, putting up five in the seventh to tie the game and two more in the eighth to win it in walk-off fashion.

Offensively, there have been plenty of big numbers to go around for the Bulldogs this week. Leading the way has been junior Jasmine Hazelbaker, who has gone 6-8 with three home runs — two in the Anderson game — with nine RBI, five runs scored and a double.

Junior Sophie Cline, who homered and drove in four in the Wapahani win, was 4-9 in the two games, while junior Taylor Murdock had four hits in the Anderson loss and a home run against the Raiders.

But while the Bulldogs have collected 30 hits in the two games, they have also surrendered 30 hits. Senior Brooke Daniels pitched a complete game against Wapahani, battling through 17 Raider hits. Daniels also had three hits in the game, including a home run.

Lapel is scheduled to visit Delta tonight and travel to Sheridan for a Saturday morning doubleheader.
