PENDLETON — The Arabian ladies posted a second-place team finish and qualified several athletes for next week’s regional at the IHSAA girls track and field sectional Tuesday, May 16.

Christina Magers qualified in three events, while Alli McCarty, Marisa Marshall, Kate Cowger, Sarah Dudley, and Anna Smith each qualified twice for regional to lead the Arabian effort.

With a top-three finish required to move on, Marshall placed second in both the 300-meter hurdles and the long jump, while McCarty was third in the 3,200, and Magers was a third in the 800 meters.

McCarty, Magers and Dudley along with Kylah Stout advanced the Pendleton Heights 4×800 relay team with a second-place finish. Magers, Smith, Dudley and Cowger also comprised the 4×400 relay team that moved on with a third-place result.

Smith posted a new personal best and placed third in the 400 dash, and Faith Baer was runner-up in the 3,200 to advance as individuals.

One sprint relay team, the 4×100, comprised of Cowger, Betsy McKinney, Cassie Zehr and Devyn Byars, also advanced with a third-place finish in a season’s-best time of 55.40.

Although her seventh-place result was not enough to advance, Katelin Wittkamper posted a career best throw in the discus of 92 feet, 3 inches.

Lawrence North won the team score with 154 points, followed by Pendleton Heights at 96 points, and Anderson with 61.

The girls track and field regional is scheduled for Tuesday, May 23, at Ben Davis High School.
