FISHERS–A stout defense and explosive offense have been staples of the Pendleton Heights girls soccer team all season. Tuesday, both came to the forefront and now, the Arabians are set for their biggest test of the season.

Junior Helena Talbot scored three goals and junior Taylor Fort scored once and assisted on three other scores as Pendleton Heights blanked Muncie Central 7-0 in the first round of the Hamilton Southeastern sectional.

Pendleton Heights (13-3-1) will play the host Royals Thursday at 5:30 p.m. Hamilton Southeastern (12-5-1) are ranked 7th in the state and advanced to the semifinal with a 4-2 over No. 15 Fishers Tuesday.

That Talbot and Fort led the way comes as no surprise. They are the top two scorers for the Arabians, with Fort having scored 16 goals with 12 assists and Talbot has 14 goals and 10 assists.

It was the eighth shutout of the season for the defense, led by senior goal keeper Shayla Meinders.

Senior Kate Cowger and junior Claire Fendel had a goal and an assist each, sophomore Lexi Hill had two assists, and junior Leonie Wilson added one goal in the victory.
