Since its founding in 1991, the South Madison Community Foundation has helped individual residents build a framework for making dreams come true for their community.

From strengthening civic organizations through the Art & Science of Community Leadership and volunteer expo, to grants for kids from 1 to 92 through a new preschool classroom and playground, and Enhance Fitness classes for ages 55-plus at the Pendleton YMCA, our donors were active in supporting good work throughout South Madison County in 2018.

We can proudly say that if you (or a family member) attended school, visited a park or pool, used a library, or called upon a first responder, you are one of thousands who witnessed one of our grants in action.

Settle in for a few moments and the full report.

In more good news, the foundation has been given a fantastic opportunity to increase the good we do through a remarkable $2 for $1 matching grant.

All donations to the Bright Future Fund are eligible for the match. This is a rare and special opportunity to donate one, but invest three in bright futures for the people and places of South Madison County.

Donations to the Bright Future Fund can be used to address emerging threats or exciting opportunities and are also shared back with the community each year in community and student enhancement grants.

Thank you so much for your support.

There are no small acts of community service. Your service, your interest, your word-of-mouth referrals all have a cumulative, positive effect in building a better community and a brighter future.

We wish you the best at the close of 2018 and look forward to all to come in 2019.

Bowman is executive director of the South Madison Community Foundation.
