Lapel Band Boosters — Lapel Band Boosters proposes to purchase 12 new instruments for Lapel High School’s music program. The purchases will help students who desire to engage in the music program but cannot afford to rent or purchase an instrument.

Outfitters — Outfitters provides new underwear, socks and shoes, as well as other new and like-new clothing to children of families in the South Madison Community School Corp. district. Funds would be used to buy a new database system as well as inventory to improve its level of service and handle increased demand.

Pendleton Heights Middle School COACH — COACH (Connecting, Organizing and Creating Hope) is a mentoring/tutoring program to help students who have struggled to complete homework and provide supervision and guidance to help them succeed in school and life. A pilot program for 20 students is planned for the 2020-21 school year and is expected to grow. The grant would be used to pay tutors, purchase supplies and provide transportation as needed.

With “Open Hearts, Open Purses,” or OHOP, at least one hundred members each give $100, which funds the main grant, which is awarded by donor votes.

OHOP has a different format this year; members will get to vote for a grant recipient from home beginning today, Thursday, June 4, or during an open-house/open-air event planned for June 11.

To join OHOP, people can direct their $100 membership to OHOP at South Madison Community Foundation, 233 S. Main St., Pendleton IN 46064.
