CARMEL — Macy Beeson really is one of a kind.
The Lapel High School sophomore did something no other Bulldog has ever been able to accomplish.
Against the top high school girls golfers in Indiana, the pint-size sophomore with the large left-handed swing finished at the top of the Indiana High School Athletic Association’s Girls Golf State Final, held Friday and Saturday at Prairie View Golf Club in Carmel.

Beeson, who won individual titles at the sectional and regional, picked up the school’s first-ever individual state crown.
It is the third state title in school history. Lapel boys basketball teams won state championships in 2016 and 2005.
Beeson beat Carmel freshman Michaela Headlee by one stroke. Beeson finished the two-day event with a score of 146, 2 over par.
After Friday’s round, Beeson was one shot back. Evansville North junior Chloe Johnson had a one-shot lead after carding a 1-over-par 73. She finished third at 4 over par.
Headlee made a hard charge on the second day, shooting a 1-under-par 71. Beeson finished even par on Saturday with a 72.
Beeson birdied two of three par 3 holes on Saturday and had two other birdies on par 4 holes. On Friday, she played even par on 15 of 18 holes. She had a double bogey on par 5 No. 18, a bogey on No. 8, a par 4 hole and her lone birdie on the par 4 No. 9 hole.
It was her second trip to the state final. The Lapel team qualified for the first time in 2019, also competing at Prairie View Golf Club. The Bulldogs finished 13th and Beeson finished 13th, individually.
On Monday, the school announced there will be a parade in Beeson’s honor. The event is scheduled for 4 p.m. Friday on Main Street in Lapel from the Lions Club, 329 Main St., to Daybreak Community Church, 1219 Main St.
