INDIANAPOLIS — Two Pendleton organizations received thousands of dollars from the state to help them financially weather the coronavirus.

Pendleton Historical Museum received $8,601, and Pendleton Artists Society received $6,000 through the Arts, Cultural and Destination Marketing Organization (DMO) grant program.

Indiana Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch announced last week that 479 organizations will receive almost $10 million.

These grants are made possible through a partnership between Indiana Destination Development Corp. (IDDC) and Indiana Arts Commission (IAC), providing operational support to local organizations whose operations were disrupted by COVID-19.

“Ensuring the arts and cultural community can survive is what this grant will do for so many organizations across the state,” Lewis Ricci, IAC’s executive director, said in a press release. “This funding can help bridge the gap.”

Award amounts were based on budget size, previous amounts of CARES Act funding received and amount of eligible expenses, resulting in an equitable distribution to organizations in all areas of the state.

The CARES Act (Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act) is a $2.2 trillion economic stimulus bill passed into law in March.
