Pendleton Artists Society Members Show generates extra kudos

PENDLETON — Pendleton Artists Society named the winners of its June Members Show recently at Gallery 119 in Pendleton.
In addition to Top 3 and People’s Choice awards, judge Myron Cochran honored four participants with Merit Awards and five with Honorable Mentions.

Patrick Kluesner won first place ($75) with his oil-on-canvas painting “Lone Egret.”
Second place ($40) went to Teresa Apodaca for “Fall Foliage,” a photo realistic fabric collage.
Carla Corbin placed third ($30) with “Rowdy and Mr. T Scratch Itchy Spots,” a pastel work.
The People’s Choice Award ($20), decided by votes cast at the show’s opening, went to Brenda Jarrett for “You Don’t Know How I Feel,” a recycled wood cherry and walnut piece.
Jarrett also won a Merit Award for the piece.
Other Merit Awards went to: John Erwin, “Incline to an Edge,” Cast cement, polyurethane; Ellen Shaw, “Vintage Violet,” enamel on copper; and Don Saxon, “Wading for Lunch, photography.
Honorable Mentions were awarded to: John Erwin, “As I See Me,” ink; Gini Deaton, “Handle With Care,” oil; Lylanne Musselman, “Contemplating Yellow Jesus,” oil; Joan Valente, “Enchilada No. 1,” oil painting; and Katy Burke, “Silver Alert,” oil painting.
The show will be on display through June 30 at the gallery, 119 W. State St. Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays.
