Gallery 119 offers art classes

PENDLETON — Pendleton Artists Society’s Gallery 119 is offering art classes with a limited number of students.

The next classes are:

Watercolor with Judy Crist — 9 a.m. to noon June 26. Crist will teach a beginner watercolor class, during which participants will paint a flower with a dragonfly. Cost is $40 per person. All supplies are provided.

Jewelry with Tracy Davidson — 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday, June 27. Participants will make a Bloom Stacking Ring in sterling and copper. The focus will be on sawing and soldering in this beginner to intermediate class, for ages 12 and older. Cost is $55 per person and includes all tools and supplies needed for the project.

Registration for classes can be completed at Gallery 119 or by phone at 765-778-0986 during regular business hours, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays.

Summer concerts start Sunday

PENDLETON — Summer Concerts in the Park, a Pendleton Lions Club program started 18 years ago, begins at 6 p.m. Sunday, June 27, with performance by  country music performer Cory Cox.

The shows are slated for the last Sunday each month, including:

•  Sara Howe and The South Bend Sound — 6 p.m. Sunday July 25

• Madison County Band Directors Jazz Band and Pendleton Heights High School Marching Band — 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 29

People are welcome to bring their own lawn chairs. Organizers remind people to be prepared for sun (hats, sunglassed, etc.,).

Lions will be serving hot dogs, drinks and snacks.

Quilt guild to meet

PENDLETON — Spring Valley Quilt Guild will meet July 7 at Pendleton Community Public Library, 595 E. Water St., Pendleton.

Refreshments and social time begins at 5:15 p.m. with the meeting set to start at 5:45 p.m.

The program this month will include member demonstrations aimed at helping people improve their quilting skills.

There also will be “show and tell.” People are encouraged to bring their creations.

Everyone interested in quilting is welcome.

Business offers chance to shred

PENDLETON — SecurEstate, 100 S. Main St., Pendleton, plans its 10th annual Shred Day for 9 to 11 a.m. July 17.

The event is open to the public and free of charge.

There is no limit to the amount of paper one can bring. All paper is shredded on site while people watch.

This is a drive-thru drop-off service; people are asked to enter the parking lot off Main Street.

Gallery 119 offers Kids’ Art Camp

PENDLETON — Registrations are being accepted for the 2021 Kids’ Art Camp at Pendleton Artists Society’s Gallery 119.

The camp runs for the week of July 12 to 16.

Children ages 6 to 12 can register for the morning session, which runs from 9 to 11:30 a.m. daily, or the afternoon session, which runs from 12:30 to 3 p.m. daily.

Children will work on age-appropriate artwork with various artists. Snacks will be provided.

Both sessions are limited to 30 children.

Children ages 12 and older can register for evening classes set for 5 to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday. It has a limit of nine youths.

Cost is $60 per child per session and $50 for the second child from the same family living in the same home.

Arabians Class of ’76 reunion set

PENDLETON — Pendleton Heights High School Class of 1976 reunion is planned for 7 to 11 p.m. Friday, Sept. 17, at Pendleton American Legion.

There will be a barbecue-style picnic dinner, cash bar and live music.

Cost is $30 cash at door ($55 per couple).
