Board begins year with personnel changes

PENDLETON — Coinciding with the first day of school at South Madison Community School Corp., the Board of School Trustees met to approve more than 100 personnel recommendations — including resignations, hirings, transfers and other requests for certified, support and extracurricular staffs. Nearly one-half of those recommendations were renewals for athletic head coaches and their staffs.

Along with proposals for classrooms and playing fields, the board welcomed in a new, but familiar, face to its panel.

Recently appointed board of school trustees member John Lord was sworn in by Judge George Gasparovic. Lord, who spent 41 years in the South Madison system as a teacher, coach and administrator, replaces Green Township representative Chris Boots, who has moved out of state.

Also, the board approved a trip request for Aug. 13-14 for the middle school cross country team to Mounds State Park in Anderson.
