PENDLETON — ParkFest, a new family-friendly concert organizers hope to grow into an annual concert series, took place Thursday, Sept. 9, at Barnhart Field, located at East and Water streets.
“It went amazing; it was just fantastic,” organizer Lisa Floyd said.
Stella Luna and the Satellites performed a concert, there were children’s games, and people were encouraged to bring their own picnics and participate in a picnic area decorating contest.

“Everybody seemed extremely happy at the end of the night when they were leaving, were very complimentary, and have been since then,” Floyd said.
She said attendance is estimated at 650 adults, with an unknown number of children.
The concert is a benefit for Falls Park, and online ticket sales of $5,600 went directly into a park account.
Event sponsorships totaled $11,000, Floyd said, and after expenses are all paid, any remaining money will also go to the park.
As for the event’s future, Floyd said “we still need to confer with our partners, sponsors” and others to see. Floyd said organizers are “undecided but hopeful.”
Gift baskets were presented to the top three picnic area decorators: First place: Trinity York, Devin York and Ashlee Simison; second place: Mary, Valerie and Alan Held, and Lori and Todd Anson; third place: Matt and Lindsey Shaffer.
