Cheerleaders want to ‘egg’ your yard

PENDLETON — Pendleton Heights High School cheerleaders are planning a fundraiser called “Egg My Yard.”

For a fee, cheerleaders will hide prize- and candy-filled eggs in residents’ yards on the evening of Saturday, April 16.

The cost is $20 for 24 eggs, $45 for 50 eggs and $60 for 80 eggs.

The deadline to sign up is Friday, April 8, via the smartphone scannable QR code at right.

Museum plans trip to Van Gogh exhibit

ANDERSON — Anderson Museum of Art is accepting registration for its day trip to Newfields in Indianapolis to see “The Lume: Van Gogh” exhibition on April 15.

The visit will allow people to explore a combination of art and cutting-edge technology with floor-to-ceiling projections of some of the most famous paintings in the world.

The trip will include breakfast at the museum, a charter bus ride to Newfields and access to the Newfields campus.

The trip is $60 for AMOA members and $70 for non-members.

The trip itinerary runs from 9 a.m. (breakfast at the museum) to 5 p.m. (bus arrives back from Indianapolis).

Shred Day set for April 16

PENDLETON — SecurEstate, 100 S. Main St., Pendleton, plans its 11th annual Shred Day from 9 to 11 a.m. April 16.

The event offers secure and on-site shredding to the public without charge.

There is no limit to the amount of paper people can bring. People can watch while their paper is shredded.

For this drive-thru dropoff service, people are asked to enter the parking lot off Main Street.

Military service information event set

PENDLETON — Pendleton American Legion Post 117 will play host to Military Service Information Night, set for 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 19.

There will be people to answer questions about the Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines, Army National Guard and Air National Guard.

The post is located at 611 W. State St., Pendleton.

PAS Artfest is set for April 22

PENDLETON — After two years’ absence because of COVID-19, Pendleton Artists Society’s “Artfest” is back, scheduled for 6 p.m. April 22.

There will be a

Hawaiian-themed dinner catered by MSL Catering, art auction, games, a raffle and a cash bar at the Crystal Coop, 3400 W. 53rd St., Anderson.

There will be an art auction led by auctioneer Glen Wilson, and an Art of Fine Dining raffle with gift certificates from locally owned restaurants. Raffle tickets are $10. There will be a cash bar.

Tickets cost $25. Groups of six to eight people may reserve a table by making that request when purchasing tickets.

Museum history series continues

PENDLETON — Pendleton Historical Museum is running a three-part history series called Gathering at the Museum, with one session remaining:

• 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 24 — Anabeth Radeck will share information on the Fenian invasion of Canada and its local connection.

Kids’ summer art camp set at PAS

PENDLETON — Pendleton Artists Society plans Kids’ Camp 2022

for July 11-15 at Gallery 119, located at 119 W. State St.

At the camp, instructors will teach participants to create age-appropriate art with various artists.

On the last evening, participants will have a display of the art projects created during the week for the parents to see before taking them home.

There is a morning (9-11:30 a.m.) and afternoon (12:30-3 p.m.) session for students ages 6-12. Class limit for each session is 30.

An evening session for people 12 and older is set for 5 to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Class limit is nine.

Foundation accepts OHOP applications

PENDLETON — South Madison Community Foundation is accepting applications to annual its Open Hearts, Open Purses giving circle initiative.

OHOP donors will award a $10,000 grant to a local organization for a project specifically benefitting the residents of Adams, Fall Creek, Green, and/or Stony Creek Townships of Madison County, Indiana. The grant will be presented on June 9.

The goal of OHOP is to create positive change and lasting local impact. Since 2010, Open Hearts, Open Purses has awarded almost $170,000 in grants.

Only 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations, tax supported or educational organizations (parks, libraries, schools) are eligible to submit a request for funding.

However, other entities — including private, for profit, faith-based, grassroots community organizations and service clubs — may partner with one or more eligible organizations to propose collaborative programs.

The foundation will meet with applicants prior to grant submission.

The deadline to apply is 4 p.m. Monday, April 25.

Finalists will be notified on May 27.

Music department plans fundraiser

LAPEL — The Lapel Music Department will sponsor a mattress sale from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, April 30, in the Lapel High School commons area.

Mattresses of all kinds will fill the area to give patrons a wide selection.

Profits benefit the Lapel bands and the Lapel high school choirs.

Foundation creates internship

PENDLETON — South Madison Community Foundation is offering a philanthropy internship beginning in the spring

The intern will complete a sample of activities that provide a complete picture of the requirements to staff a community foundation, from account reconciliation to the design and implementation of community projects.

Specifically, the intern will:

· Provide assistance to the executive director with emphasis in enhancing community engagement and administering functions of the foundation.

· Position is estimated at 20 hours per week and $15 per hour.

· Required: Full or part time enrolled college or graduate student who has completed one year of higher education.
