Gallery 119 offers art classes

PENDLETON — Pendleton Artists Society’s Gallery 119 offers art classes on a regular basis.

The next classes are:

• Oil Painting with Katy Burke — 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 1 (with a break for lunch).

Participants will paint a village scene .

The cost is $55 with supplies included and $45 for those who bring their own paints and brushes.

• Acrylic Painting with Diane Burrell — 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, June 10 (with a break for lunch).

Participants will paint a pelican.

Cost is $45 with supplies included.

• Acrylic and Beads Techniques with Diane Burrell — 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, June 24.

Participants will paint with acrylic and beads using techniques that are fun and easy.

Cost $30 with supplies included.

•Jewelry Class with Tracy Davidson — 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, June 26.

Participants will make a sterling ring, with a focus on jump rings, sizing and soldering in this beginner class for ages 12 and older.

Cost is $55 per person.

Children’s Art Classes — 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on the second Saturday each month. Each class will be different and taught by different teachers. Each class is independent and will need its own registration. The class for each month will be advertised on the PAS website.

Quilt guild meeting June 1

PENDLETON — Spring Valley Quilt Guild will meet on June 1 Pendleton Community Public Library, 595 E. Water St., Pendleton.

Social time and refreshments start at 5:30 p.m. The meeting include four quiting demos.

Attendees are encouraged to bring “Sew and Tell.”

Spring Juried Show at Gallery 119

PENDLETON — Pendleton Artists Society’s Spring Juried Show is set for June 3 to July 6.

The show will have three categories: 2-D, 3-D and Photography.

Prizes for winners of each division will be: first place — $100, second place — $75 and third place — $50.

Judge for the event will be Tina Mangos.

The show’s First Friday event set for 6 to 8 p.m. June 3, with hors d’oeuvres and a chance to meet the artists.

The public is can vote for their favorite artwork for People’s Choice award of $25.

Gallery 119 is located at 119 W. State St., Pendleton.

Farmers market continues

PENDLETON — Pendleton, Indiana, Farmers Market started its five-month season on Saturday, May 7, in Falls Park, with about 60 vendors, including a few junior vendors.

The market runs 8 a.m. to noon Saturdays, through Oct. 8, in Falls Park, where Falls Park Drive is shut to automobile traffic so people can stroll through the vendors safely.

Psi Phi Purse Auction

MARKLEVILLE — Psi Phi Chapter of Kappa Delta Phi Sorority in Markleville will play host to its Purse Auction at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 26, at North Christian Church, 32 State St., Markleville.

A portion of the proceeds will help the chapter support military veteran organizations.

Psi Phi’s personal and entertaining auctioneer Tim Looper will auction new and gently-used purses filled with surprises. Purses can be previewed at 6 p.m. (no touching), with the auction starting at 6:30 p.m.

Kids’ summer art camp set at PAS

PENDLETON — Pendleton Artists Society plans Kids’ Camp 2022

for July 11-15 at Gallery 119, located at 119 W. State St.

At the camp, instructors will teach participants to create age-appropriate art with various artists.

On the last evening, participants will have a display of the art projects created during the week for the parents to see before taking them home.

There is a morning (9-11:30 a.m.) and afternoon (12:30-3 p.m.) session for students ages 6-12. Class limit for each session is 30.

An evening session for people 12 and older is set for 5 to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Class limit is nine.

People can register at the gallery in person or by phone 765-778-0986 during regular hours, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays.

Church plans abundance meal

MARKLEVILLE — Christian Women’s Fellowship “Comfort Keepers” of the East Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Markleville plan its monthly “God Abundance Meal” for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 8, in the lower fellowship hall.

The menu will be chicken and noodles, mashed potatoes, green beans, applesauce, assorted desserts,and drink. It will be dine in or take out.

The meal is open to the public, and the church, 124 Main St., is accessible to those with disabilities.

Pendleton Lions Club Concert in the Park Series

Falls Park

Rock Bottom Boys of Madison County bluegrass trio (June 26); Fall Creek Valley Community Band (formerly Lapel Community Band, July 31); Pendleton Heights High School Band Marching Arabians and Madison County Band Directors’ Jazz Band (Aug. 28). Shows start at 6 p.m. near the park gazebo. There is no admission charge, refreshments are available and people can bring their own lawn chairs and shade umbrella.
