Farmers market continues

PENDLETON — Pendleton, Indiana, Farmers Market started its five-month season on Saturday, May 7, in Falls Park, with about 60 vendors, including a few junior vendors.

The market runs 8 a.m. to noon Saturdays, through Oct. 8, in Falls Park, where Falls Park Drive is shut to automobile traffic so people can stroll through the vendors safely.

Gallery 119 offers art classes

PENDLETON — Pendleton Artists Society’s Gallery 119 offers art classes on a regular basis.

The next classes are:

• Acrylic Painting with Diane Burrell — 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, June 10 (with a break for lunch).

Participants will paint a pelican.

Cost is $45 with supplies included.

• Drawing and paintings with Chicqiela Elbert, for children ages 11 years and up, 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 11. Elbert will lead students in creating 2D drawings and paintings using a variety of techniques using gelatin plates without using a press. The cost is $10 per student.

• Acrylic and Beads Techniques with Diane Burrell — 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, June 24.

Participants will paint with acrylic and beads using techniques that are fun and easy.

Cost $30 with supplies included.

•Jewelry Class with Tracy Davidson — 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, June 26.

Participants will make a sterling ring, with a focus on jump rings, sizing and soldering in this beginner class for ages 12 and older.

Cost is $55 per person.

Children’s Art Classes — 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on the second Saturday each month. Each class will be different and taught by different teachers. Each class is independent and will need its own registration. The class for each month will be advertised on the PAS website.

Spring Juried Show at Gallery 119

PENDLETON — Pendleton Artists Society’s Spring Juried Show is set to run through July 6.

The show will have three categories: 2-D, 3-D and Photography.

Prizes for winners of each division will be: first place — $100, second place — $75 and third place — $50.

Judge for the event will be Tina Mangos.

The show’s First Friday event set for 6 to 8 p.m. June 3, with hors d’oeuvres and a chance to meet the artists.

The public is can vote for their favorite artwork for People’s Choice award of $25.

Gallery 119 is located at 119 W. State St., Pendleton.

Kids’ summer art camp set at PAS

PENDLETON — Pendleton Artists Society is taking registrations for Kids Art Camp 2022, which takes place July 11-15 at Gallery 119.

During camp, participants will learn and create age appropriate art with various artists and medias.

More than 10 artists will be teaching various medias such as acrylic and watercolor painting, drawing, deco clay, cyanotype photography, gelli print and more.

On the last evening, participants will have a display of the art projects created throughout the week for parents to see before taking them home.

There is a morning or afternoon session for students ages 6-12: Morning session is 9 to 11:30 a.m. and the afternoon session is 12:30 to 3 p.m.

Class limit for each session is 30.

An evening session for students ages 12 and older is set for 5 to 8 p.m. Monday-Thursday.

Class limit is nine.

Bicentennial Committee announces logo contest

MADISON COUNTY — Madison County Bicentennial Planning Committee has announced a contest to select a logo for the county’s 200-year celebration in 2023.

“We are interested in a logo that represents the history, heritage and strengths of Madison County,” committee chairman Tim Lanane said. “Artists should keep in mind a design that reflects our entire county with its varying communities and facets. Judging will be based upon these criteria, as well as color and uniqueness of the logo” Lanane said.

The winning design will be announced at this year’s Madison County 4-H Fair, to be held the third week of July.

Contest entries must be submitted by June 30 to the Madison County Historical Society, at the email address [email protected].

Rock Bottom Boys of Madison County bluegrass trio (June 26); Fall Creek Valley Community Band (formerly Lapel Community Band, July 31); Pendleton Heights High School Band Marching Arabians and Madison County Band Directors’ Jazz Band (Aug. 28). Shows start at 6 p.m. near the park gazebo. There is no admission charge, refreshments are available and people can bring their own lawn chairs and shade umbrella.
