PENDLETON — Fall Creek Valley Community Band performed its final show of its “Fun, Joy, and Inner Peace” 2022 summer concert series in Falls Park on Sunday, July 31.
The hour-and-16-minute show included a “Salute to the Cinema” — which featured “Hooray for Hollywood,” “Singing in the Rain,”Over the Rainbow,” “As Time Goes By” and “A Day in the Life of a Fool” — and “Wrong Note Rag,” written by Leonard Bernstein for the show “Wonderful Town.” The band also performed a “portrait” of composer Leroy Anderson.
The show ended with “Stars and Stripes Forever,” by John Philip Sousa, which elicited clapping and cheering from the crowd.

The band, formerly called Lapel Community Band, is comprised of volunteer amateur musicians from central Indiana.

It practices regularly at Pendleton Middle School.
The band’s mission is to promote musical arts by performing in public venues.

Pendleton Lions Club sponsored the concert, which is also part of the club’s Concerts in the Park series.

There is one more concert remaining on the club’s park schedule. Pendleton Heights High School Band Marching Arabians and Madison County Band Directors’ Jazz Band are scheduled to perform Sunday, Aug. 28.

That show will start at 6 p.m. near the gazebo.
