FORT WAYNE —
Perfect autumn weather and a well-liked course made for a successful cross country run at the Delta regional on Taylor University’s course on Saturday, Oct. 15.
Pendleton Heights advanced both the girls and boys teams, while Lapel also advanced several runners, to this week’s New Haven semistate run at Indiana Wesleyan University.
The Arabians girls finished second, while the boys came in fourth.
Arabian Ava Jarrell (18:38) followed up her second-place sectional finish with another second, behind winner Nicki Southerland of Delta.
Hadley Walker (20:14) was the other Pendleton Heights runner to finish in the top 10. Walker placed ninth.
Sophie Goodwin (19:39) of Lapel finished fifth and will run for the Bulldogs this week. Hannah Combs (21:12) of Lapel just missed the cutoff after placing 30th.
Pendleton Heights boys finished fourth as team, led by Andrew Blake (16:25), who was sixth.
Lapel’s Cameron Smith was fifth (16:19), and Braxton Burress (17:13) was 22nd. Both will represent the Bulldogs in the regional.
Lapel boys finished sixth as a team, with help from Simon Nickelson, Elijah Stires and Bennett Contos.
Arabians Jarrell, Walker and Jaycee Thurman and Blake were named All-Regional, as was Smith from Lapel.
Semistate begins at 10:30 a.m. for the girls and 11:15 a.m. for the boys.
