INDIANAPOLIS — The lone competitor for Pendleton Heights, and all of Madison County — Jacob Simpson — ended his season on Friday night at the IHSAA Boys Swimming and Diving State Finals.
The junior competed individually in the 100-yard butterfly and the 100-yard backstroke at the IU Natatorium.
Coming off of the Hamilton Southeastern Sectional the week prior, where he placed second in the 100 backstroke and third in the 100 butterfly, Simpson saw improvement in one of his two events.
In the 100 butterfly, Simpson entered seeded 20th, and finished in that position, but cut off time in the event. He beat his sectional time of 51.72, with a 51.50.
In the 100 backstroke, Simpson came into the state final seeded 16th. With a time of 52.93, Simpson finished his junior campaign with a 22nd-place finish. His time of 52.57 at the sectional the weekend before was a Pendleton Heights school record.
