PENDLETON — The Pendleton Lions Club Fishing Derby for children 2 through 13 is set for Sunday, Sept. 24, at the pond near the main entrance of Falls Park.
Sign-up for those ages 2 through 8 is 1 to 1:30 p.m. Fishing time will be 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.
Sign-up for ages 9-13 is 2:30 to 3 p.m. Fishing time for this group will be 3 to 4 p.m.
There is no fee or application to participate.
Members of Boy Scout Troop 232, which help with the event, will keep track of the number and length of the fish children catch.
Trophies will be awarded for largest fish and most fish caught.
Children must reel the fish in to get credit.
The Lions Club stocks the pond the with hundreds of pounds of fish on the Friday prior to the event.
The public is asked not to fish at the pond from that time until after the event to allow the fish to be available for the derby.
People are asked to bring their onw pole and bait, but there might be some extras available to use, ifi needed.
