PENDLETON — Sons of AMVETS in Pendleton conducted its semi-annual Car, Truck and Cycle show with 135 vehicles on display.
Best of Show, as determined by a panel of three judges, went to Bill Brumfiel for his 1955 Chevy Bel-Air.
Commander’s Choice, as chosen by Sons of AMVETS Commander Troy Jones, went to Martin Holbrook for his 1966 Ford Mustang.
Norman Collis won the People’s Choice Award for his 1971 Chevy pickup.
The judges also determined the Top 30, recognizing vehicles as diverse as a 1937 Packard, a 1957 Willys pickup and a 2021 Harley Davidson Heritage Softail.
Piston Poppers won the Club Participation Award, and a special award was presented in honor of Johnny Norris to Aaron Hahn for his 1929 Ford Model A coupe.
In addition to awarding trophies to those with vehicles in the show, Sons of AMVETS also presented a couple of donations to organizations. It gave $10,000 to Marion VA Medical Center/Center for Development & Civic Engagement (CDCE), in Marion, and $5,000 to the Pendleton Police Department.
“Our money will be used to purchase Sig Sauer AR 15s; we are super excited for this gift,” Chief Marc Farrer said.
CDCE Chief Luther Green said the CDCE, which assists veteran patients in a variety of ways and settings, will use its funds to further serve the organization’s mission.
“With winter coming we will buy clothing, shoes and coats for homeless veterans. It will also provide (food boxes or vouchers for) meals for Thanksgiving and Christmas,” Green said.
