PENDLETON — Spring Valley Quilt Guild’s 40th Quilts in the Park show drew record attendance and record raffle sales, making for a great four-day event, guild President Suzan Pierce said. “It a huge success for our group,” she said.
More than 350 people visited the event, which took place Thursday through Sunday at Pendleton Historical Museum in Falls Park.
There were 90 quilts submitted for the show — 70 for judging and 20 for display only. Judge was Dawn Cornell of Anderson.
Story continues under photos.
The show theme was “Celebrate! Celebrate!” There were 10 categories, with first- through third-place winners announced in most. There was also a Judge’s Choice Award (winner Pinwheel Garden by Marsha Zeller, which also won first place in the “Small Wall, All Techniques, Machine or Hand Quilted category) and a Viewers’ Choice Award (winner Scrappy Reels Blue by Barbara Snodgrass, which was also first in the Bed, All Techniques, Hand Quilted category).
Between donations at the door and raffle proceeds, “We will be donating $2,000 to the museum,” Pierce said.
