ANDERSON
Jason Robert Merz, 45, of Anderson, passed away on September 20, 2021, at Community Hospital Anderson. He was born on May 22, 1976, in Muncie, Indiana, the son of Larry and Sandy (DeVaney) Merz.
Jason graduated from Muncie Central High School, received his associate’s degree from Vincennes University in drafting and design, and his bachelor’s degree from Indiana State University in engineering technology management.
He was a drafter for Rolls Royce for the last 18 years.
He loved the outdoors where he would go fishing, boating, and four-wheeling, but most importantly he loved searching for shark teeth with his kids at the beach!
Jason is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Melissa (Mitchell) Merz; children, Hutson and Kynslee; and parents, Larry and Sandy Merz. Also, surviving is his sister, Aimee (Brien) Vorhees; father-in-law, Gerald Mitchell, and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bob and Betty Merz and Helen and Jesse DeVaney; and mother-in-law, Norma (Hutson) Mitchell.
Visitation will be held Friday, September 24, 2021, 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, 200 West 53rd Street Anderson, IN.
Services will be Saturday, September 25, 2021, 11:30 am at the funeral home with Rev. Rise Singer officiating.
Burial will take place in the Anderson Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hutson and Kynslee’s college savings account through the funeral home or to the National Kidney Foundation.
