YORKTOWN — Several local golfers competed in tournaments recently, including a Lapel golfer who picked up a rain-shortened victory.

The Junior Tour, played at the Players Club at Woodland Trails in Yorktown, conducted a tournament Tuesday, July 11, and, with the lead after 12 holes, Lapel junior Kristen Hobbs collected the victory in the girls 16-19 division after completing the day at even par.

Hobbs birdied four holes on the front nine, including three consecutively, to edge Mackenzi Black of New Palestine by one stroke.

In the boys 16-19 division, Pendleton Heights senior Garrett Nealon finished in a tie for 16th place, also after 12 holes. Nealon was at seven over par, 12 shots back of Jack Crawford of Carmel who finished at four under.

Arabian sophomore Danielle Tinsley was through 11 holes when the rains came. She finished in a tie for seventh place at 17 over par.

Tinsley also played Monday, July 10, on the junior tour at Meshingomesia Golf Club in Marion, where she placed sixth with a 91 (+19).

Also in Marion, Lapel junior Logan McAtee placed in a tie for 14th with a 22-over-par 94.
