PENDLETON — Almost 150 people participated in the Pendleton Heights High School Best Buddies Respect Walk and Challenge run on Sunday in Pendleton.
Best Buddies is a program that aims to foster acceptance and inclusion while creating friendships among individuals with and without intellectual or developmental disabilities.
The Respect Walk was a leisurely 2-mile walk through downtown Pendleton. The Challenge Run was a 5K race in the park that includes creek crossings, crawling and climbing.

There were 103 walkers and 44 in the Challenge Run.
Community volunteers, including those from local Best Buddies chapters and Boy Scout troops, helped with the event.
